Huge Turnout for CSG Rally at Byron Bay on Sunday 16th October
3000 people lie down in Lawson Street to emphasise the deadly nature of CSG

On Sunday over around 3000 people attended a march and rally protesting against coal seam gas mining in Australia and especially the north coast. The organisers were overwhelmed by the turnout, which included many from Grafton and other districts as well as a large number of young people.

Jan Barham Greens MP and Byron Shire mayor was at the rally and said that coal seam gas is such an important issue. It threatens our future food security, our water security, and the quality of life for all Australians, so it is really great everybody has turned out and is supporting the Greens and are supporting the legislation Jeremy Buckingham is bringing forward to get a moratorium on coal seam gas

One of the speakers addressing the rally was Justin Field,  policy advisor to Jeremy Buckingham, Justin said that  on his flight up from Sydney, looking out the window of the plane , everything he saw below was subject to a CSG exploration licence. From St Peters in Sydney to Newcastle, to Barrington to the Northern rivers. Justin also said that the northern rivers is the heart of the anti CSG campaign in NSW.
