Richard Staples: Protect our Fresh Water

Richard Staples: Protect our Fresh Water

I am going for a fourth term because so many people appreciate the work I do and the positions I have taken.
If re-elected I will continue to play a role in the struggle to clean up our waterways and protect fresh water resources. The Dunoon dam is not necessary given coherent demand management of water.

A recent report to council has suggested that the Byron bay bypass is not viable and would be a waste of $10 -$20 million dollars and would destroy an excellent stretch of wetland. Therefore, if re-elected, I will be pushing for a second rail crossing be formalised south of the station in Byron and for the bus stop to be moved from its present dangerous location.
